The Dulles tollway and Dulles Greenway, Fairfax County Parkway, Loudoun County Parkway, Interstate 66, and Highway 7 are all easily accessible from Ashburn for commuters going into D.C. or around the beltway to points north or south of Washington D.C.

Is there much new house building in Ashburn? My impression of Ashburn is of an old city – but I’m only interested in new house. Show me where to look.
Mardy,
Yes, there is a lot of new houses being built in Ashburn!
There is an older part of Ashburn, which is relatively small, compared to all the growth that has been going on in the last 10 years. Ashburn Village is one of the largest planned communities around, so some areas of this community are older, but it is still growing too.
Brambleton, Broadlands, Ashburn Village, South Riding, Dulles – all of these areas are experiencing strong growth. There are new single family homes, townhouses, condos – all new construction.
Contact me directly if you are interested in this area and I would be happy to show you the newer areas.
I’ll set up some customized searches for you to make sure you get to see the new areas.

I’m looking at Ashburn because it’s close to work. I live in Maryland now – but I’m secretly a Redskins fan. Where is the practice facility?
John,
I won’t tell any Ravens fans that you are moving near Redskins park!
The Redskins practice facility is on Loudoun County Parkway just north of Waxpool. If you are familiar with the Dulles 28 Centre, the new shopping area off of Route 28 at Waxpool, it’s just west of there. Not sure where you work in Ashburn, but if you are near Dulles 28 Centre, just go west past the 1757 Golf Club and turn right.
Call me if you need more info about the area or if I can help with your move.

Melana,
Do you work with military relocations? We are in the US Army and will be stationed at the Pentagon soon. So we just want to make sure we work with someone that is familiar with our situation.
Seth,
Thanks for contacting me. I definitely work with military relocations and understand the unique issues that military families face.
I have helped families relocate to this area, including those stationed at the Pentagon. And I have managed properties for military families during temporary (long-term and short-term) assignments to other parts of the world. So I know both sides of the issues.
All military families should find a good Buyer’s Agent to ensure they get the best possible home, but also the smoothest possible move(s).
Contact me directly if I can help.
Good Luck!

You said there is large growth in the housing industry there in Ashburn right now but the housing economy every where has gone down if not stopped all together. So they are building homes but are they selling right now? I like Virginia but I do not like their Hi-way system at all but I suppose to be near a number one football team in the league I could suffer through it. If I am looking for a new home should I just look where you suggested Mardy look then contact you directly?
Jenna,
The housing market has slowed. However, they are still building in the Ashburn area – it is ideally located for a variety of reasons in the larger metro area.
Conact me directly on this site, or at: http://www.Homes-in-Ashburn.com.
I will start a customized search just for the specific things you are looking for in a new home. It’s the best way for you to get all the information you need, delivered directly to you, to start your search for a new home.

P.S. – we are just down the road from the Washington Redskins practice facility … and they are building on that site too!
This area sounds ideal from a logistical stand point and from the mixture of professionals that live in that region, it sounds as if the price of the homes cover a vast range from the very opulent to middle class homes for military personnel just starting out in the ranks. I think Melana should post a series of photos which show the various homes as well as maybe some arial shots to give us an overall idea of the terrain. Google Earth is sort of good for a very wide expanse of the area, but it is not good for getting a decent look at the neighborhoods. In fact, if photos of the homes is not readily available, images of the shopping areas and other places where families will want to frequent will work very well.
John,
Thanks for the input. I’ll get some more photos up soon.
Melana
This sounds like a logistically ideal location which was well chosen by its developers. The DC area is certainly a bustling area where many established companies are based. The question is what type of neighborhood is this? Is it middle class or is it an area with high end homes? Based on the diversity of the demographics described in this article, I would venture to say that this is a district that encompasses homes of various price ranges. The fact that players live in the area certainly means it contains million dollar homes, but are there more affordable sectors for families that earn less than $150,000?
James,
Ashburn covers a large area, with many large neighborhoods. You can find middle class town homes all the way up to high end estates all in and near Ashburn, VA.
Yes, there are definitely areas for families earning less than $150,000 … which still gets you a fine home, even in this area!
The trick is always to work with a Buyer’s Agent who understands exactly what will work best for your situation and your family. Most people start looking for a house by searching online. Smart buyers start by talking to a Buyer’s Agent and figuring out what they really want/need in a new home.
As you said, there are a lot of different types of homes available …. deciding what you want is the first step!
